Lilypie Fourth Birthday tickers

the morning nap...

Full tummy.. soft morning light... tucked into child's pose.

a long way from siberia!

Annie and I met rafting the Katun River in Siberia... Who would have known that 4 years and a couple Burning Mans later we'd have two precious little girls only six months apart! We took Sadie and O for a nice afternoon stroll in the headlands yesterday... somehow we managed to stear clear of the San Francisco summer fog!

yeah! someone to ride in the backseat with!

à bientôt Sadie!

she's walking! elle marche!

Océanne decided after dinner tonight that she's ready to walk! For some reason she has chosen the hard tile floor in the kitchen for her first steps, yikes... Ben and I think that maybe she was saving this for my birthday (which is also today)! I can't think of a better present!

velo aventure en famille!

Spaceballs!

Thursday we loaded up two Yuba Mundos and hit the bike trail to Tiburon to catch a ferry to Angel Island! Océanne has been on the bike a few times, but this was her first cycling adventure. It felt like we had the entire island to ourself... nice to beat the Memorial Day crowds! Funny to realize that we were actually sleeping not even two miles across the water from our house... a quiet refuge in the middle of the San Francisco Bay!

pretty campsite

little tentmate

breaking down camp, ferry back to Tiburon...

look how much they've grown!

Our Marin Mother's Group had a great group *1 year* birthday party on Sunday (all the babies born in May/June '08). Danny hosted at her beautiful home in Muir Beach... what a treat to have seen all these moms and babies grow together the past year, such a resource for new moms too. It was fun to see everyone after being away all winter, new teeth, more hair and even a few walkers in the bunch. Such a gorgeous day for all the moms, babies, dogs and dads!! Danny's father (a bookmaker) made us each a beautiful card with all the baby names and birth dates inside along with this poem, a sweet keepsake for this pretty amazing first year...

Another day, another walker to push...

ezra, le lion!

The annual "lion cut" just in time for summer. Pounds of heavy fur that O can't grab! He feels like velvet, and it will grow back!

kayakistes!

Sunday morning before the heat... Océanne was pretty excited to climb into the cockpit (on shore!). Soon she'll be ready for a lifejacket and the open *calm* water... no class 5 rapids for this peanut yet!

Lars, just back from 5 months on our favorite river, the Futaleufu (Chile).

baby massage...

This afternoon we rode our bikes to Soleil's first birthday party in Mill Valley... I wish I had more photos to show how funny Océanne and Soleil are together... only 12 days apart, I think they have a special bond that started in utero at prenatal yoga! Océanne is still learning to be "gentle" or "doucement" with the cats and other babies, but we couldn't keep her away from the birthday girl!

saturday morning in sausalito...

Checking out the boat before Ben goes for a morning paddle...

o and leon reunited!

Daniela and Leon... we missed them so much while they were in Germany and we were in France...

Stroller pushing competition!

stinson beach...

While Ben kayaked the Yuba river, we visited Beckers, Khyber and Franny in Stinson. What would a trip to the beach be without a mouthful of sand?! Next time we'll bust out the itsy bitsy bikini!

don't get in o's way!

may 4th - happy birthday océanne and ben!

Cheerios Cake! Banana-applesauce cake topped with yogurt and cheerios... yum!?!

O was more interested in an "O" magnet than the cake... we have to put those away for a few months... at least until she realizes they're not edible!

Ben is happy to share the limelight on May 4 from here on out!

Our little girl is one!! We were so touched by how many friends came over on a rainy Monday afternoon to celebrate! Thank you so much Daniela for the photos... Ben and I were swept up in the moment... and busy filling drinks and watching our step... there were babies everywhere! Here are just a few of the evening's guests:

Freddie on the drums...

Romper Room!

Kristin, Mati and Leon...

Michelle, Soleil and Adam...

Anna and Todd (I hope she thought my cupcakes were ok, it's hard to top Sarah's!)

this time last year...

This photo was taken at Erica and Maher's wedding last year... just days from going into labor with "le petit croissant!" We still think it was the great Palestinian music and too much dancing that got things going... Océanne surprised us a couple weeks early! Little did we know who was packed in that big belly... now it's impossible to imagine life without her.

the cousins are together again!

Anna is such a little girl now!! You can tell Océanne looks up to her already. What a treat to come home and have my parents in town from N.C.

First time at the Discovery Museum, next time I'll know to bring a change of clothes..

Nana is always nore than happy to babysit!

it's never too early to play dress-up! borrowing Anna's tutu...

hiking with Nana and Papa up Mt Tam...

hey, is that Constantine Carpet by any chance?
